As detailed in our post earlier today, WSP and Rincovitch have confirmed the building is ready to be re-occupied now that the stabilisation works have been completed.
Cardno has requested additional concrete samples to validate previously provided test results prior to supporting a progressive re-occupation of the building. We anticipate having the results mid-week.
Should residents choose to not return to Opal Tower till Cardno has issued their confirmation, Icon advises that it has secured ongoing hotel accommodation for residents staying in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct (Pullman, Novotel, Ibis) until Saturday, 19 January, and will continue to pay for this accommodation and residents’ living expenses as previously outlined to the morning of.
For residents staying outside the precinct, Icon is currently contacting these hotels to ensure accommodation can be extended to Saturday, 19 January.
For residents who have sought their own alternative accommodation, please seek to extend your accommodation to Saturday, 19 January. Should you have any difficulty in doing so, please contact the Icon team on (02) 8705 3750.
There will be residents that require ongoing accommodation as the reoccupation and remedial works are carried out concurrently. For the apartments affected directly by the remedial works, Icon will contact you directly to discuss the options available for the following 4 – 6 weeks.
